Ronald Bowlby

Ronald Oliver Bowlby was the ninth Bishop of Newcastle [1] from 1973[2] until 1980, who was then translated to Southwark [3] where he served until his retirement eleven years later. Born on 16 August 1926 [4] and educated at Eton and Trinity College, Oxford, his first post after ordination was as a curate at St Luke's, Pallion, Sunderland.[5] He was then Priest in charge of St Aidan, Billingham and Vicar of Croydon before his elevation to the Episcopate.
